Sorry, Mallika

Arunoday Singh and Aditi Rao thrash Mallika Sherawat's 17 kisses-Khwahish record. We are not sure if it's a record worth setting but Sudhir Mishra's next film, Yeh Saali Zindagi, includes 22 liplocks.

yeh Saali Zindagi might set a new record in celluloid smooching. Arunodoy Singh (last seen making violent love to Raima Sen in Vinay Shukla's Mirch) and Aditi Rao (Sonam Kapoor's bua in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Delhi 6) are the couple in question.

"Aditi and Arunodoy play a young couple based in Delhi. They kiss every time they quarrel. And they quarrel a lot," says Mishra.

Mishra's memory freezes the figure at "around 20 or 22". A kiss is a far more aesthetic and natural expression of love than hip-shaking, believes the director, who has in the past had to do away with kissing scenes because the actors in question were reluctant.

No such issues with Rao and Singh, though.

Singh comes from a political family. His grandfather Arjun Singh is a prominent  politician. Rao's grand-uncle Sir Muhammed Saleh Akbar Hydari was the governor of Assam, and she is married to actor Satydeep Mishra (who played Rani Mukerji's boss in No One Killed Jessica).

The two were mildly apprehensive of how their families would react, but Mishra's directorial experience saw their reservations fade quickly.

The censorboard, already upset over the  film's title, is unlikely to take gently to the the avalanche of smooches.

"I am not bothered. If the censors think kissing is evil, I'll ask them to get a reality check. We can't manage with flowers quivering on screen. The audience will guffaw at us!" says Mishra.

Hrithik's kids confused with two daddys and one mommy

Looks like Hrithik Roshan's wax statue has made more news this year than the actor himself. Well, coming to the news, Hrithik's kids Hridhaan and Hrehaan were confused at the launch of their father's replica in Madame Tussauds. The kids couldn't believe their eyes when they saw two daddy's standing beside each other with one mommy.

The kids at first couldn't make out the difference between the original paa and the duplicate paa. But, later they recognised their original father with flesh and blood and kept holding his hands throughout the party.

However, people and the media were impatiently hovering the place to have a look at the master piece of the evening, the wax statue of the original super hero of Bollywood.

Earth To Get Second Sun As Supernova Will Turn Night Into Day

The Earth could soon have a second sun, at least for a week or two. The cosmic phenomenon will happen when one of the brightest stars in the night sky explodes into a supernova, reports Daily Mail.

And, according to a report  on Saturday,  the most stunning light show in the planet’s history could happen as soon as this year.

The above is a film scene from Star Wars film , in which two suns are seen by Luke Skywalker on Tatooine.

Earth will undoubtedly have a front row seat when the dying red supergiant star Betelgeuse finally blows itself into oblivion.

The explosion will be so bright that even though the star in the Orion constellation is 640 light-years away, it will still turn night into day and appear like there are two suns in the sky for a few weeks.

The only real debate is over exactly when it will happen.

In stellar terms, Betelgeuse is predicted to crash and burn in the very near future. But that doesn’t necessarily mean you have to rush out and buy sunglasses.

Brad Carter, Senior Lecturer of Physics at the University of Southern Queensland in Australia, claimed yesterday that the galactic blast could happen before 2012 – or any time over the next million years.

‘This old star is running out of fuel in its centre,’ Dr Carter told te Austalian website news.com.au.

‘This fuel keeps Betelgeuse shining and supported. When this fuel runs out the star will literally collapse in upon itself and it will do so very quickly.

‘This is the final hurrah for the star. It goes bang, it explodes, it lights up - we’ll have incredible brightness for a brief period of time for a couple of weeks and then over the coming months it begins to fade and then eventually it will be very hard to see at all,’ he added.

Look out: Betelgeuse, which is in the Orion constellation, is set to blow itself into oblivion - which will give the effect of two suns in the sky for us on Earth

The Internet is abuzz with doomsday theories linking the supernova to the Mayan calendar’s prediction of an Armageddon in 2012, fuelled by the association of the word ‘Betelgeuse’ with the devil.

But experts claimed that even if the big bang is looming, it will still happen way too far from Earth to do us any harm.

‘When a star goes bang, the first we will observe of it is a rain of tiny particles called nuetrinos,’ said Dr Carter.

‘They will flood through the Earth and bizarrely enough, even though the supernova we see visually will light up the night sky, 99% of the energy in the supernova is released in these particles that will come through our bodies and through the Earth with absolutely no harm whatsoever.’

When it happens, the Betelgeuse supernova will almost certainly be the most dramatic ever seen.

It is the ninth brightest star in the night sky and the second brightest in the constellation of Orion, outshining its neighbour Rigel – or Beta Orionis – only very rarely.

It’s distinct orange-red colour makes it easy to spot in the night sky.

If it was at the centre of our solar system, its surface would extend past the asteroid belt, wholly engulfing Mercury, Venus, Mars and the Earth.

Neetu Chandra without panties never happened

A report on a website that actress Neetu Chandra went panty-less at an event to get publicity has been strongly dismissed by her publicist.

Call it the Yana Gupta syndrome, but Neetu was certainly not pleased with the report that claimed that she went in the raw to pull off a publicity stunt. Neetu’s publicist is quoted as saying: “Neetu Chandra is a girl with dignity and there has been no slip like this.”

The actress of films like Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! and Traffic Signal has previously been part of a controversy for a racy lesbian photo-shoot.

However, her spokesperson maintains that Neetu doesn’t need to resort to cheap publicity gimmicks to stay in the news.

In fact, Neetu was in the process of taking a legal action against the website, but the matter was sorted out after the website tendered an apology for running the story.

Cristiano Ronaldo on Changing Diapers: It's Not the Best

So says soccer stud Cristiano Ronaldo, 25, who opened up to Spanish sports daily Marca for the first time about six-month-old son Cristiano Jr.

"Of course I change the nappies," he says of the tot, whose mother has never been identified. "It's not the thing I like best in the world, but I do it."

The athlete -- who also says that he may wed his girlfriend, Russian underwear model Irina Shayk, 24, "one day" -- adds that he's already looking ahead to his boy's future.

"I would love him to like football for him to be my successor, but we'll see what happens," says the Real Madrid star, who signed a $132 million contract with the team in 2009. "My son will be whatever he wants."

But Ronaldo, who's raising the tot with the help of his mom and two sisters, says he's already shown a love for the sport.

"My son goes to sleep early, but my mother told me the other day, while we were playing, he was crying without stopping and didn't want to sleep until I scored a goal," he tells the mag. "I scored and five minutes later he was asleep."

We know boy why you have additional tension these days, is his rumoured girlfriend Priyanka Chopra listening?

Amitabh Bachchan signs for two more seasons of ‘KBC’

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who made a roaring comeback to the small screen with the fourth season of the game show “Kaun Banega Crorepati” on Sony Entertainment Television last year, has been signed on for the next two seasons as well.

“Sony and I have signed on for KBC for the next two seasons… your blessings and encouragement needed in abundance!” Amitabh posted on his Twitter page.

“Kaun Banega Crorepati”, the Indian version of internationally popular show “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?”, was first launched in 2000 on STAR Plus with Amitabh as the host. The show returned for its second season in 2005 once again with Amitabh, but superstar Shah Rukh Khan was roped in as the host of its third season on STAR Plus.

Sony Entertainment Television brought back the show with Amitabh in 2010, and it recieved an overwhelming response, before it ended in December.

Now the channel is excited to carry forward their association.

“We have certainly tied up with Mr. Bachchan for the next two seasons of KBC. The next season will be on this year itself, but we have not planned when it will go on air,” Ajit Thakur, executive vice president and business head, Sony Entertainment Television, told IANS.

The End Is Near For Netbooks

If the fact few people are buying netbooks nowadays isn't enough, Acer sales manager Lu Bing-hsian has gone on record as saying that tablets will soon replace netbooks in Acer's line-up. "That's the direction of the market," he says.

It's hard to argue. The recent Consumer Electroincs Show saw lots of tablets being launched and the netbook hype is well and truly over. Thankfully.

I've been waiting for this moment since late 2007. That's when I took receipt of the first ever netbook, an Asus Eee 701. I was among the first in the world to own one, having placed an order well in advance.

The eagerness with which I tore open the packaging was destroyed within minutes of booting up. It was a horrible user experience. I developed a hand cramp within half an hour from typing on the tiny keyboard. The touchpad was laughably small--like sliding your finger around on a postage stamp. The screen was too small to do anything useful.

It just didn't work. It was a failure. I tried very hard to like it, hoping my issues would go away, but it was hopeless. I sold the netbook within a month (thank you eBay!). However, I clearly hadn't learned a lesson because in 2009, I bought another netbook: a Dell Mini 9. An initial honeymoon period ended pretty quickly and the same issues returned, including the hand cramp and uselessly small screen.

Like all netbooks, the Mini 9 was unusable for anybody but a small child or somebody with small hands and a lot of patience. True, some people loved them. Others managed without too many issues. Most people, like me, bought them and realized they'd made a mistake, before putting them on a shelf to collect dust.

Nobody admitted this. It felt like a lot of the technology press were waiting for the design limitations to be magically somehow ironed out. But that never happened.

I came to the conclusion that the netbook form factor simply doesn't work. Or, rather, it would have worked fine if manufacturers had done something other than merely given us shrunken laptops. If they'd actually thought about the limitations of the small form factor and made creative and intelligent design decisions, it might have been a different story.

Part of the trouble was that manufacturers saw netbooks as a way to sell cheap computers. As far as they were concerned, it was always about tapping into a market that couldn't afford full-blown laptops.

From a consumer point of view, we wanted ultraportable computers, but ones that didn't sacrifice usability. Price was an issue, as it always is, but manufacturers didn't always need to drop to bottom dollar prices. A few dollars added to the ticket price, but invested in better design, would have paid dividends.

For example, netbook software was uniformly poor quality. Linux and Windows were fine on larger computers but on small computers a "full" OS didn't make sense. A new operating system was required, not an adapted one.

Web browsing needed to be rethought. Including a standard Web browser was mindless. With its toolbar and status bar, browsers chewed up screen real estate and left little actual space for Web pages. I'm not a user interface (UI) designer but wouldn't it have made more sense to move all that over to the left or right-hand side? Most of netbook screens were essentially wide-screen, and few Websites demand a wide view.

To see how things could have been done, we need only look at tablet computers. As with netbooks, we again have the same old computing hardware in a new form factor. But Apple's iOS and Google Android make all the difference. They're operating systems specifically designed to work on this kind of device. Intelligent decisions have been made. Web browsing is a dream, not a nightmare.

However, netbooks undeniably gave the world one thing: they introduced the concept of people owning more than one computing device. We forget that, back in 2007, only geeks owned more than one computer. Most of us relied on a single computer, whether that was a desktop or a laptop.

Netbooks showed how we could spread our digital lives across a number of computers. The tablet and smartphone revolution that's happening right now couldn't have begun without netbooks clearing a path.

So perhaps I should be thanking netbooks, rather than gloating over their demise.

If nothing else, they showed how not to do things.

American Idol Ayla Brown Singing Style

A few months after American Idol ended, Ayla went on to pursue a collegiate basketball career at Boston College as a member ofthe Division I Lady Eagles. Under NCAA Division 1 compliance rules, Ayla was unable to promote her music career. As a freshman, Brown made her first start on December 31, 2006. As a sophomore, Brown led the team to its first victory of the 2007-08 season, scoring her record high 21 points with 10 rebounds. The 21-12 Lady Eagles went on to make the third round of the Women’s National Invitational Tournament after failing to receive an invitation to the NCAA Championship tournament, where they were knocked out by St. John’s. For the season, Brown totaled 240 points for a 7.3 ppg and a .390 percent field goal average.
